Hairline correction plays a crucial role in shaping your image.
Which doctor will you trust with this important decision?
To avoid having revision surgery due to an unnatural hairline correction
To prevent scars from follicle extraction on the back of your head
To prevent the issue of thick hairs growing at the very front of the hairline
Many people know the benefits of hairline correction surgery,
such as reducing a wide forehead to the desired proportions,
making an uneven hairline look more balanced, and even making the face appear smaller.
However, not everyone knows the detailed steps involved in the process.
Each clinic has its own expertise and systems,
so it’s difficult to say the procedure is done
the same way everywhere.
At MO&LINE Plastic Surgery, where 70-80% of patients come through referrals,
we openly share the key steps of
how our hairline correction process works.

Consultations for male and female hairline correction
are conducted directly by Dr. Lee Byung-kwon, our head surgeon.
We don’t simply draw a line based on a visual estimate
and give you the number of follicles to be transplanted.
We use 3D digital imaging devices
to analyze your hairline comprehensively and in detail,
allowing you to see and understand your own hairline condition,
including elements that are hard to notice,
such as asymmetry, forehead volume, and differences between the s ides.

Dr. Lee Byung-kwon, a board-certified plastic surgeon, explains the design process from the hairline to the sideburns, considering facial contour surgery.
As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Lee
considers the overall structure of your face,
including the proportions of your eyes, nose, and mouth,
to design the entire line from the hairline to the sideburns,
ensuring harmony with your facial contours.

The hairline design process for a female patient has been completed (Left: Before Design, Right: After Design).

Hairline design for men must be approached differently from that for women.
Another essential step before proceeding with hairline correction surgery
is scalp care for optimal follicle engraftment.
This process involves preparing the skin beneath the scalp
to create an ideal environment for hair growth
after follicle transplantation.

The method of follicle extraction from the back of the head
is decided during the consultation.
Large-scale transplants of over 3,000 follicles can be done using a non-shaven,
FUE method, or a hybrid method
combining minimal FUSS(FUT) and FUE techniques.
For FUE procedures,
specialized punching tools are used to carefully extract
follicles of varying thickness, angles, and lengths.
For FUSS(FUT) procedures, minimal incisions are made,
and a plastic surgeon’s meticulous suturing technique is used
to ensure small scars that heal quickly.

For the hairline area where the follicles will be transplanted,
a slit design is performed by creating tiny holes using a sharp slit tool.
Each follicle is then carefully transplanted into these slits using forceps.
Since each follicle, from baby hairs to thicker strands,
requires different angles, directions, and depths,
these factors are all considered during the transplantation process.

If this expertise is lacking,
even if follicles are successfully extracted and transplanted,
the hair may not grow, and it could even cause surrounding follicles to be damaged,
leading to additional hair loss.
At MO&LINE Plastic Surgery,
we exclusively use the advanced dual slit forceps technique,
which is ideal for creating natural hairlines.
Our head surgeon personally performs
the entire procedure.

The follicles are transplanted in a gradient of 6 to 7 stages, from fine to thick hairs.
