Many clinics offer hairline correction surgeries. However, not all of them are good at hairline re-correction. Re-correction surgeries are complicated, with more elements to consider.

This client visited Mo&Line Plastic Surgery for a re-correction surgery. She got a hairline correction from a clinic but ended up with an awkward, doll-like hairline that made the forehead seem narrower. The hairline that connects her sideburns also seemed awkward, so she underwent re-correction surgery.
The know-how of restoring a hairline that already looks doll-like is an essential technique for a hairline re-correction, along with the removal technique for misplaced follicles, the harvest technique while considering the previous harvest scars and lowered hair density around them, and the specific transplant technique to transplant follicles properly by their thickness, reversing the thick hairs int he front and making thin gradation from the front.

The client above was satisfied with the natural-looking hairline one day after the re-correction surgery at Mo&Line Plastic Surgery.
Mo&Line Plastic Surgery’s director, Lee Byung-kwon, has had various types of hairline re-correction surgeries. And some of them had received the 3rd and 4th re-correction surgeries already. If the surgeon is inexperienced in re-correction surgeries, the outcome often requires more re-correction surgeries, resulting in more surgical scars and the loss of existing follicles.

Let’s have a look at the three surgical techniques of Lee Byung-kwon, Mo&Line Plastic Surgery’s director, who performed numerous hairline re-correction surgeries.
The first is the technique to remove wrongly transplanted follicles. Upon removing the follicles within the scalp, it is essential to neatly take out the follicles to be removed only rather than damaging the surrounding follicles and skin or causing hair loss. At Mo&Line, a high-resolution microscope is used to confirm each follicle as we remove them with an insulating needle. You must be experienced with this technique to ensure a stable procedure.

The scalp must be prepared well with a condensed engraftment laser treatment and scalp treatment prior to a re-correction surgery. Then, we begin a hairline re-correction.

Secondly, the technique to harvest follicles from the occipital regions. Hairline re-corrections require a relatively lower volume of hair to be transplanted(Usually less than 1,500). Because some clients do not want two occipital incisions, the non-shaving, non-incision method is our popular choice. Of course, a minimum incision is a possible option at Mo&Line.

The follicle harvest must avoid the occipital scars and already-harvested regions with lower hair density from the previous hairline correction surgery.

Often, the follicles around scars show damage, distortions, and lower density. That’s why the follicle harvest becomes much harder for a re-correction surgery.
Also, the micro-follicles with baby hair for the very front of the hairline, thin hair follicles, thick hair follicles, and more follicles in different thicknesses must be harvested quickly and only as much as needed. This is crucial in making a natural-looking hairline.

The third technique is regarding the follicle transplant stage. Each hair follicle has a different growth angle and depth. You must understand it well while you quickly transplant them. Dr. Lee Byung-kwon, with global recognition, does not use hair implanters that are only applicable for thick hair follicles but uses the SLIT(creating a transplant hole) and non-touching forceps techniques. This is his proud follicle transplant know-how.

If you’re concerned about a hairline re-correction surgery or worried if you may need a re-correction surgery after a hairline correction, we recommend you consult with the director, Lee Byung-kwon, at Mo&Line Plastic Surgery.
